Isaiah 46:4

God bless you for your heartfelt prayers for me as I underwent surgery Monday afternoon to remove a small cancerous tumor on my chest wall. Since it was a clean removal, my oncological surgeon is very optimistic. All went well, it was a small incision, and I am home and resting, feeling very hopeful and content. We now await the pathology report which, in turn, will determine the kind of treatment I'll be receiving, whether radiation, chemotherapy, or some other medication (and since this most likely is a reoccurring cancer, I will have to have treatment).

I was absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's prayers – and, oh, were they effective! Ken gave out lots of 'Joni's Story' gospel tracts, reminding everyone who attended us (from the admissions desk to the pre-op nurses) that they were being prayed for. Ken even gave some books to a few of the staff. I also prayed with my anesthesiologist who seemed very fascinated with my general health, given my quadriplegia. Pray that God will use those gospel seeds to awaken in each medical professional, a true thirst for the Savior.

Everything went so smoothly, so quickly, that I felt every path was paved on your prayers. And after leaving the hospital? A very late lunch at Brent's Deli :-). And thanks again for your intercessions… your incredible care and concern means more than you realize!

I woke up early am on Tues praying for Joni for some reason... that mining at community bible study in Maryland I shared in my small group about my son who is in a wheelchair... his greatest miracle is no more seizures. How I’m not an evangelist but God has used his disability to share the love and compassion of Christ as his non-verbal smile lights up the room...our lesson that am was all the miracles in Matthew 10? I said miracles look different to different people but Jesus does see and care... as soon as it was group teaching time our leader who is also in a wheelchair named carol John got up to speak... tears flowed as I had no idea she was friends with Joni in California... has kept in touch for years and carol has polio as a child ... she shared how God uses wheelchairs and the mission trips she’d gone on with Joni. My heart began beating fast as I knew the holy spirit quickened me to pray that Joni would be encouraged and ken to have energy and strength to care for his wife... I had no idea what carol was going to speak on... as a mom with a son of disabilities when we left the Hospital one day after his last seizure, my daily bible reading from John MacArthur that day was the people who went to bethsaida to be healed... ironically I was heading to Walter reed in Bethesda MD... I said, “Lord, I’m exhausted from this medical journey it’s hard”... I cried but prayed and went... as I left the Hosptial I saw a license plate that said, 2HZGLRY... I smiled, I knew the Lord showed me, this journey is all about HIS GLORY. Be encouraged Joni! The Lord loves you!! I saw you on a simulcast last spring at the Jills Housenof respite for families of special needs kids. My parents have aired Joni and friends on angel 95 FM in Manhattan KS 28 years... I never thought disability would be a calling and tool He would use to change our path and share HIS story. Blessings... holly Sorell

Dearest Joni, We are just rejoicing over this good news. God continues to use you in amazing ways as you continue to trust Him. You will be interested to hear that our Kenyan pastor friend and wife are coming here for a visit and will get to go to the very prison where the chairs were refurbished that we distributed in Kenya this summer, where he will get to tell the inmates "Thank you for the work you are doing!" It is absolutely mind boggling to think of the far reaching ways the Lord has used you in HIs Kingdom Work! God bless you as you rest and recuperate and get ready for what He has in store next!

I will continue to pray on your behalf precious sister in Christ. You’re a mighty warrior for the kingdom of God. Your voice will not be silenced even in the midst of uncertainty. Our Lord is a shield around you, and you will not be forsaken. I shall never forget my visit with you during my short time in California while visiting Laura. You have left an indelible memory in my heart. I know Ken will take excellent care of you. Psalm 46:10 Be still and know I AM God

You have been an inspiration to my husband and me as we formed classes for individuals at our church. We were blessed to serve over 100 individuals for 18 years. Our prayers are with you in this challenge that you face. Jimmy and Karen Gary
