Supporting My Husband’s Dream

Decades ago, on the day I married my husband Ken, his best friend told me, “Joni, make sure you let your husband keep his dreams.” Great advice for a newlywed, as it’s a loose paraphrase of Philippians 2:4, “Look not only to your own interests, but to the interests of others.” I know I’m maintaining a healthy marriage when I encourage Ken to keep fly-casting for the fish of his dreams. It’s why I’m pretty excited today that Ken is heading out with his friends for a week of casting for bonefish (on a small, scrubby, mosquito-infested island in the Bahamas).

As you can see from his smile, he’s happy about his new Simms fishing shirt, and his fresh set of hand-tied flies. Want to encourage your spouse, a friend or a family member today? Want to show how much you care? Find out what their God-honoring dream is, and help them meet it!
