Studying the Bible with a Friend

There’s nothing I’d like better than to wheel my chair up next to you at your kitchen table and open God’s Word together. When I was first injured, the times I spent leaning over the Bible with a friend or two at my side were pivotal to my growth and understanding of God’s purposes in my suffering. It’s not possible for me to tuck my chair next to yours today, but I like to think we can come close.

My friends at Abide and Bible.com have put together a six-day Bible reading plan called “A Spectacle of Glory.” Along with each day’s Scripture passage, I share a prayer and a brief devotional thought on putting God’s glory on display. You can choose to go through it on your own schedule, or you can invite a few friends to read and discuss as you go along. Let me tell you, wonderful things happen when you study the Bible with a friend or two!
