An Extraordinary Story from China…

Jollie is 27 years old and lives in the People’s Republic of China (her Chinese name is Zhi Liao). Four years ago, Jollie was teaching a dance class when the terrible earthquake of May 2008 occurred in the Sichuan province – the entire building collapsed on her and 46 others. Jollie lost her 10-month-old daughter and her mother-in-law. After more than 25 hours, rescuers reached her, but both legs had to be amputated below the knees in order to extract her from the rubble. Jollie was the only one to survive. Afterward, she went on a search to find a Bible. She encountered American missionaries who were helping to clean up after the earthquake. It was these missionaries who led her to Jesus Christ.
 
And now? Even though Jollie is without legs from the knees down, she continues to express her talent through dance. In fact, when she visited our International Disability Center, she enthusiastically shared her testimony and how she wants to tell the young people in her country about her Savior… and she wants to do it through dance. While Jollie was in my office, she performed a short dance – in the photo she has on her prosthetic legs, but you can tell this woman is exceptional. Hopefully, Jollie will perform at our International Family Retreats in China. I know you’d agree that she’d be an inspiring example to other families with disabled children!
