Sib’s Sign

Sib's SignDuring a recent, busy trip back east, Ken and I were scurrying from one ministry event to the next, juggling flights, hotels, and crowded freeways. Our schedule was rigorous and, I will admit, exhausting. On one leg of our journey, we flew into BWI from Nashville, and then made the long drive up Interstate 81 to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As we unloaded at the home of Sib Charles, a dear friend and staff member at one of our Joni and Friends Pennsylvania offices, I felt a soothing breeze – the sun was just setting over the farms and cornfields beyond her front door. After slowly inspecting the flowers in the backyard, I wheeled into Sib and Jess’s kitchen. The first thing I spotted was this sign; actually, the first thing I saw were the words “Breathe More.” And I did just that. I breathed in the autumn aromas of fall flowers, friendship, and good Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. It was my way of inhaling the spirit of Galatians 5:25 for, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” No matter how busy your October becomes, remember to keep in step with the Holy Spirit and…”Breathe More.”
