Joni Eareckson Tada

*Joni’s Surgery Update - 11/26/18

Thank you for praying! This afternoon, Joni underwent surgery to remove the cancer from a small nodule that had developed at the site of her 2010 mastectomy. We are happy to report that Joni’s doctors are pleased with the outcome of the surgery and she is resting comfortably. Joni is incredibly grateful for your prayers and encouragement; she is lifting up prayers of thanksgiving for all of you who have prayed on her behalf.

As further information regarding Joni’s health is available, updates will be shared on the Joni and Friends blog and Facebook page. Thank you again for praying!

It is well known that Joni Eareckson Tada is a seasoned warrior when it comes to dealing with serious health issues. She has endured 51 years of quadriplegia, chronic pain, and a previous battle against stage 3 breast cancer 8 years ago. In 2010, she underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy treatment; and in 2015, she was declared cancer free.

With her husband, Ken, at her side, Joni recently underwent tests on a small nodule which had developed over the site of her mastectomy. After biopsies, doctors discovered a small cancerous tumor within the nodule.

“When I received the unexpected news of cancer from my oncological surgeon, I relaxed and smiled, knowing that my sovereign God loves me dearly and holds me tightly in His hands. What good is it if we only trust the Lord when we understand His ways? That only guarantees a life filled with doubts.”

Joni will undergo outpatient surgery to remove the cancer on Monday, November 26. She shared, “I am inspired by the many valiant people with disabilities and their families whom we serve every day at Joni and Friends; they are people who constantly persevere through personal crises. They do not doubt God's glorious purposes for their lives, why should I?”

Joni and Friends President and COO, Doug Mazza, recognizes that Joni and Friends ministry is well acquainted with suffering. Every day we face the crushing needs of people with disabilities around the world. “It is no surprise that our Founder would be so positive in the face of what otherwise might be alarming news. We know that the best support we can provide Joni is prayer. All are encouraged to join Joni and Ken, along with the entire Joni and Friends team in asking God to use this next, new health challenge to advance His Kingdom among those who need His hope and grace.”

Join Us in Prayer for Joni…

  • Pray that God will be glorified through this situation. Pray that He will be trusted, extolled and exalted.
  • Pray that this new health challenge will become a platform for showcasing His grace and the giving of the Gospel.
  • Pray that Joni’s surgeon shows great skill in surgery. Afterall, we want him to ‘get it all!’

Updates and prayer requests regarding Joni's health will be hosted on our blog and Facebook page. Well-wishers are invited to post assurances of their prayers to Joni and her husband, Ken.

“Jesus is ecstasy beyond compare and if new hardships draw us closer to Him, I'm more than content with it.” —Joni Eareckson Tada

I am a cancer survivor because of CBD. I had breast cancer (stage 4) and I don't know how will I be cured but this friend of mine told me to try the CBD, at first I did not believe because my doctor doesn't allow me to take some cannabis as a medicine and this is a fake medicinal treatment. But I saw this https://www.worldwide-marijuana-seeds.com/products/bruce-bannercannabis-as-medicine that it really helps others that's why I tried it but I did not tell my doctor about it. So I take this for 11 months and it really helps me a lot. I know that others won't believe me but trust me it really does.

May God continue to shine through you; even as you have joined Him in the knowledge and experience of suffering, and knowing its inability to quench the hope, faith and healing in Christ. How can one relate or be encouraged, or gain faith through patience? Watching you exhibit strong trust in God's love and plan for your life, while suffering is one magnificent wayb! What a testimony! I have greatly admired you for more than 20 yearsm Thankful for sharing and all you do for those with physical challenges!!

My prayers are with her, Joni and I go way back when she lived in Sykesville. MD. I was with her when I got saved in Ocean City back in 1974. Like her I had Breast Cancer made it over five years cancer free, but now they found small spots in my other breast to small to bysopy, waiting now for the appointment for an MRI. I to have to rely on our faith and know we serve a God who is in control. He knows all and has a plan for us. Let her know I have been thinking about her. You have my work email and if you send anything I will read it when I return.
