Hillary Marides

All during 2015, I watched as my friend Hillary Marides served up and down our state as Ms. Wheelchair California — Hillary is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a M.S. in Counseling. She has cerebral palsy and has often volunteered at Joni and Friends in years past (always doing her best to overcome big hurdles with transportation services). Hilary’s education, leadership roles, and personal experience have made her a strong champion for people with disabilities and their families, especially in advocating for accessible and affordable health care. Last weekend, she gave up her crown to this year’s winner, Kathleen Barajas — special congratulations to you, Kathleen, as Ms. Wheelchair California 2016! But Hillary’s community involvement has not come to an end; she continues serving with Joni and Friends and local healthcare advisory boards, writing her blog, and swimming. So join me in thanking Hillary for representing California during 2015 with grace, dignity, and great joy in the Lord!
