How My Husband Evangelizes

Ok, I have to brag for a bit… my husband, Ken, is such a great evangelizer! Whenever we stop for dinner at a restaurant or are boarding a flight, Ken always carries a “Joni’s Story” tract on hand to give to the waiter or flight attendant — it’s a little Gospel tract that shares how Jesus used my disability to change my life. “I am so proud of my wife,” Ken will often say as he hands the tract to our server, “I’d like you to have this. It’s the story of how she broke her neck.” And I tell you, it’s been amazing to see how God has used Ken’s boldness (and creativity) to reach out to hurting hearts — like Laura and her daughter featured in this video. While in Peru with Wheels for the World, Ken met Laura and her little daughter who struggles to walk. Ken helped our volunteer team of PTs, OTs, and mechanics custom-fit wheelchairs and walkers to people with disabilities… and he also shared the message of Jesus. How? You guessed it — by sharing my story with parents like Laura (with the help of a Spanish translator, of course :-).

Ephesians 5:16 tells us to take advantage of every opportunity. And 1 Peter 3:15 says to, with gentleness and respect, “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” So, friend, what are you waiting for? All around you, there are families affected by disabilities who need to be encouraged with the hope of Jesus — the hope that is within you. And to help you be prepared to share that hope, I’d love to send you a free copy of that little Gospel tract, “Joni’s Story.” Follow Ken’s lead and gift it to someone in need. Just tell them it’s the story of your friend, Joni — the lady who broke her neck and now smiles because of Jesus!
