I Can Only Hold You Now

I Can Only Hold You NowMore than 30 years ago, my friend Gracie was only 17 and in college, studying hard, keeping late nights… when one night, while driving on the highway, she fell asleep at the wheel. Her car careened off the road, into a ditch, and slammed against a concrete abutment. It was a horrific accident. She was rushed to the hospital, and remained in a coma for three weeks. Every bone from the waist down was broken — one surgeon counted nearly 200 fractures! Eventually, both legs had to be amputated.

As you can imagine, Gracie deals with a significant amount of chronic pain. Thankfully though, she has her Peter — her husband and college sweetheart, who helps care for her daily. Peter and Gracie know all too well the realities of life with a disability — the never-ending caregiving routines, the frequent doctor visits, the fear of the unknown, the disappointments and heartaches… It’s why Peter recently composed a song in tribute to his dear wife and the many caregivers who constantly go above and beyond in caring for the needs of their disabled loved one. It’s called “I Can Only Hold You Now.” And oh, was I moved to tears! If you’re a caregiver, I just know this song will bless and encourage you. In fact, I loved it so much, I downloaded it to my iTunes 🙂 Listen to it in this heartwarming music video and then share it with your friends! I know Peter and Gracie would love to hear about how this song has touched you, so leave a comment and I’ll make sure to share it with them.
