Happy Thanksgiving Day!

When it comes to celebrating Thanksgiving today, I found the best of verses. Psalm 50:23 says, “The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me.”

What a fitting Scripture as, once again, I prepare to undergo surgery in a few days to remove a cancerous tumor. Even though the statistics about reoccurring cancer are a bit gloomy, I have set my face like flint, deliberately choosing to trust in the Lord and look on the bright side – it’s what it means to offer thanksgiving as a sacrifice; I am leaving on the altar every worry and fear, saying “burn it up, Lord, and remember only my thanksgiving!” Perhaps you, too, find this Thanksgiving Day tinged with worries and fear, or grief and loss.

May I encourage you today to “put on the altar” all your fears and discouragements? Then allow the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with the grace of gratitude. And if we can help by praying for you, please let us know. All of us at Joni and Friends consider it a privilege to pray for our supporters and friends, so drop us a note, won’t you?

And may the words of this verse ring true in your life today; “Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

Pressing On: How to Lean on Christ through Suffering

After more than 55 years living with quadriplegia and chronic pain, Joni Eareckson Tada knows what it means to “press on” through suffering. Joni encourages you to join her in living out Philippians 3:14: “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
