Happy Thanksgiving!

joni's front yardAll this week, whenever I’ve wheeled outside our front door, I see our beautiful crape myrtle tree in its fall foliage. It seems to always pique in blazing color at Thanksgiving, and its fiery red and orange always make me think of Mt. Horeb’s flaming bush! Before you know it, I’m singing “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, all Thy works shall praise Thy Name in earth and sky and sea!” My heart is overflowing with gratitude this week, and Ken and I are so looking forward to sharing Thanksgiving dinner with his sister, nephews, Auntie Aiko, and two neighbor-friends — we’ll also go around the table during dessert and describe all the things for which we thank God. What does our Thursday menu look like? Yes, turkey and all the trimmings, but also lots of steaming hot sauerkraut (a tradition from my German grandmother)! Have a blessed Thanksgiving week, friend…and celebrate the gracious goodness of our wonderful God!
