I Forgot My Spoon!

Joni's bent spoonThe other evening after leaving work, Ken and I decided to do dinner at a local restaurant. This was going to be great; a nice, quiet meal with my husband. After we ordered, he reached into my handbag to get my bent spoon – it’s a special spoon with which I can feed myself. He kept rummaging around until finally he announced (with some frustration) that the spoon was not in my bag. I was so disappointed. It meant he would have to feed me. Not that I minded being fed dinner, it just was an inconvenient detour from what I had hoped. But sometimes those inconvenient detours are so precious. Like the older couple who came up to us afterward to commend us for what they saw in our relationship, especially in Ken helping me. That gave us a chance to point them to Jesus. What detour are you on today? Watch what God does with it – it could end up pretty precious!
