Elijah’s Up Syndrome

Meet Joseph and Lindsay Rangel who lead worship at their church near Fresno, California – Joseph is holding his beautiful little boy, Elijah. When I learned that Elijah had Down syndrome, his daddy said, “We like to call it Up syndrome, not Down. No one lights up a room quite like Elijah. He’s one of the most ‘up’ little boys I know! Elijah doesn’t have Downs; he has Ups!” Kids with disabilities have a wonderful way of doing just that: turning people’s expectations upside down, to show us that God’s power – and joy – always shows up best through weakness. Oh, what an image-bearer of God Elijah is every time he shares his happy smile with others. Yep, I call it Up syndrome :-).
