Disabling Mission

In recent decades churches have accommodated the disabled in various ways. Through access ramps, elevators, and sign language, people with disabilities are invited in to worship. But are they enfolded into the church’s mission? Are they celebrated and embraced? Do we truly miss kids with disabilities and their parents when they’re away?

This new book by my friend, Benjamin Conner, takes us far beyond ‘mainstreaming’ or ‘inclusion’ and helps churches welcome people with disabilities and their families as, well… part of the family, with full family privileges! My husband Ken and I serve on the board of Young Life Capernaum with Benjamin, and I’m so grateful for voices like his who are speaking into the world of disability ministry.
