The Best Way to Start the New Year

It’s almost here… in a few hours we’ll start the countdown to the New Year. We’ll reminisce about 2017 — our accomplishments, our failures, and the ever-so-common “If only I had…” But if you’re like me, I just bet that you’ll also be thinking of goals for the year to come. Like, dropping five pounds to fit into that new pair of jeans, buying a home, complaining a little less and being more generous. These are all wonderful goals to have — but I think we’d all agree, the best way to start the New Year is with God’s Word.

Because as Ken and I have witnessed for the past ten years, reading through God’s Word every day serves as a firm foundation for any goal we’ve set in mind. Like, that goal for weight-loss? I find motivation to eat healthier in 1 Corinthians 5:19-20, “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit… therefore glorify God in your body.” Or how about that dream of buying a new home? You can find encouragement in Isaiah 32:18, “My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” See what I mean? No matter what the circumstance, there is always a word of hope, peace, and instruction for you in the Bible. So, this coming year, I invite you to join Ken and me in reading through God’s Word every day. Just download our daily chronological Bible reading schedule and then, sign up for my monthly emails where I share the insights gleaned from meditating in God’s truths. It’ll make 2018 a year full of God’s greatest blessings!
