A Day of Cheerful Recording!

As I go into the studio today for another recording session for “Joni and Friends” radio programs, I’m especially grateful for the chance to open my heart to listeners. Because very soon, I will reach recording my 10,000th program!

It was back in 1982 when the people at Ambassador Agency approached me, saying, “We think radio listeners could benefit from your life’s lessons… would you consider going on the radio every day?”

Shortly afterward, I began recording the lessons God was teaching me in my wheelchair. And now, so many years later? I can’t believe I still get to do this!

A couple of weeks ago, I was wheeling the hallways at the annual National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) conference, meeting with the station managers who air the 4-minute Joni and Friends and 1-minute Diamond in the Dust radio broadcasts.

Every time I had an opportunity to thank these station managers for airing “Joni and Friends,” I ‘sealed’ my gratitude with the singing of a hymn! I am so honored, so humbled and happy that I can lift up the name of our Savior on these programs.

So, with me being fresh from the NRB conference, I hope you can see why I’m eager to get into the studio – oh, how I pray that God will use these recordings to strengthen hearts, inspire faith, bolster hopes, and glorify the name of Jesus.

After all, 2 Corinthians tells us that God loves a cheerful giver, and when it comes to giving encouragement from God’s Word… there’s nothing that makes me happier.

So please, may I ask you to help me with your prayers? As always, I need extra breath and lots of lung power!
