Pass Me Not

Joni sings "Pass Me By" and shares about a Peruvian boy with osteogenesis-imperfecta.

Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

            Every time I sing this song, I think of that disabled man by the Pool of Bethesda - it was like when he saw the Lord, he called out, "Don't pass me by, Jesus... here I am!"  And the Lord touched him at his deepest point of need.  Jesus didn't forget that disabled man...

            And he didn't forget 14-year-old Luis when our Wheels for the World team was in Peru - Luis has osteogenesis-imperfecta, a rare bone disease that results in lots of fractures.  This teenager came to our wheelchair distribution hoping that somebody would help him, touch him, not forget about him.

            Well, God heard Luis' cry.  Because it just so happened that on that particular Wheels for the World trip, miracle of miracles, one of our team members named Chris was in a wheelchair.  We really love it when a disabled person feels called to join a Wheels team!  But that's not the miracle.  The incredible thing is, Chris also has osteogenesis-imperfecta... this young man had braved the risk of breaking his bones to travel with us to Peru to share his love of Christ with people like Luis.

            As you can imagine, this 14-year-old Peruvian boy was astounded - he finally had a chance to meet and actually talk with someone else who had his exact same disability, from America no less.  And after Chris gave Luis lots of helpful hints about exercising and how to use his new wheelchair, that 14-year-old opened his heart to Jesus Christ.  The Lord helped that young man, touched him and ministered to him at his deepest point of need.  Jesus did not pass him by...

            And I share this as a reminder - He won't pass you by either... He longs to meet your deepest needs.
