Beyond the Sunset

Last evening I went outside before dinner to spend a few minutes praying for several friends who are battling cancer. As I sat and prayed, and gazed at this sunset, it was as though God were reminding me that this life (with all its many hardships) is not the only life there will be, nor is it the best life! And so, I sang a hymn my mother and I often harmonized on – spend a minute today pondering Heaven and that glorious Day when God will close the curtain on suffering, sin, and sorrow; then join me today in living (I mean really living) with the Finish Line in sight! 

Beyond the sunset, O blissful morning
When with our Saviour heaven is begun
Earth’s toiling ended, O glorious dawning
Beyond the sunset when day is done.
