Betrayal

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and have you ever felt betrayed, like being stabbed in the back by someone you trusted? Or maybe in years past, maybe your spouse? Betrayal is a wound that can cut deeply into your soul. Why is that? Well, only someone close to you; only a friend, a loved one can betray you. Enemies cannot do that – you don’t expect loyalty from an enemy. But from a friend, you sure do. And it’s why during the Last Supper, Jesus warned Peter that he would betray him. And sadly, in John chapter 18, Peter did just that. He betrayed Jesus by denying and disowning him. And I’m so sure that betrayal stung the Lord. But the good news is? As much as we betray Jesus by sinning against him, especially willfully, he will never, ever, ever turn his back on us.

So today, don’t betray Jesus; rather, obey him – it’ll prove your loyalty as his friend.
