What Defines You

We live in a day when many people feel victimized – people don’t survive anymore: You don’t hear about burn survivors or stroke survivors; you hear about burn or stroke victims. And words are important. They express how we view a difficult situation.

Look, Christians are not; we are never victims. So, please don’t be shaped by your pain and struggles; if you do, you’ll see yourself as a victim. But if you recognize Christ as the one shaping your life through difficulties, you’ll be a victor. When Jesus was on the cross, He never said, “I am finished.” He said, “It is finished.”

You don’t need to feel beat up by your difficulties. Hardship is the tool God uses to perfect his work in you. And when the Lord is done? You, too, can say, “It is finished.” That’s a victory.

Pressing On: How to Lean on Christ through Suffering

After more than 55 years living with quadriplegia and chronic pain, Joni Eareckson Tada knows what it means to “press on” through suffering. Joni encourages you to join her in living out Philippians 3:14: “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
