Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. People who have a disability and can no longer use their hands can still compose and edit text with a voice-activation dictating program on their computer. I should know, I use such a program. When I want my computer to start talking dictation, I begin by saying, “Wake up!” and the microphone comes alive. Then, when I speak naturally and smoothly, my words flow across the screen. This program is virtually mistake-proof and can be trained to recognize my voice—and my voice only. To the limit of its abilities, it will obey all my commands. Oh, that we Christians were more like my dictating program when listening to the Lord.  Jesus says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”  So, train yourself in godliness. It’s the best way to quickly and decisively recognize the voice of your Shepherd.
