Meet my Friend, Sungchil Park

Her husband, Moses, who had been a voice major at Yonsei University, often enjoyed singing when Sungchil would play (he was also a successful businessman in an export company). Then in 1989, a terrible automobile accident left her a quadriplegic; it also took the lives of their two children. Thankfully, Moses and Sungchil Park possessed a strong faith in Christ and, eventually, they established Shalom Disability Ministries for special-needs families in LA’s Korean-American community. Although Sungchil has to lie in bed often because of pressure sore problems, she spends her time memorizing God’s Word – she has the book of Psalms committed entirely to memory! This dear Christian is a huge inspiration to me… and I hope to you, too. If you have a minute, drop Sungchil a note at [email protected]. She truly reflects these words by an anonymous author, “Oh, the blessings of absolute submission to Christ! What a blessing to lose our own strength, wisdom, plans, and desires and to be where every ounce of our being becomes like a peaceful Sea of Galilee under the omnipotent feet of Jesus!. The main thing is to suffer without becoming discouraged.”
