Square Dancing with Jeremy

Have you ever seen a square dance with wheelchairs? Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and you might be thinking a wheelchair square dance could be a bit dangerous. And I would agree! Especially with the way I drive my wheelchair. But I love taking part in a square dance, and it happened at a Joni and Friends Family Retreat last summer. My husband is not too keen on this sort of thing – maybe I have run over his toes too many times! So my dancing partner this time was Jeremy, a young man who’s blind. And here I am paralyzed in a wheelchair, and he’s blind. How does that work? Well, he put down his white cane, held onto my wheelchair handles and off we went doe-Se doE-ing. And nobody fell or stumbled. It was so much fun rejoicing over the goodness of God with all of us watching out for each other. It happens all the time at our Family Retreats, so come and join the square dance at joniandfriends.org.
