Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and Psalm 84 says that no good thing will God withhold from those who walk uprightly. You know, I used to look at that verse and claim it as a promise that God would heal me. After all, walking is a good thing! But I’ve lived long enough in this wheelchair to know that God’s idea of “good” goes a lot deeper and higherSo, with that perspective, how do we read Psalm 84? Well, if our walk is blameless, God will not withhold peace. God will not withhold virtue, faith or courage. He will not withhold grace when we come to Him in need. We will be able to run spiritually and not grow weary; walk in faith and not faint. He will not withhold opportunities to sow His seed. He will not withhold the favor of His nearness and His sweetness. He certainly will not withhold joy. None of these things will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. And they’re all good things! And friend, that’s the way to read Psalm 84 verse 11.
