My friend Tawana is a quadriplegic and very recently she was struggling against pneumonia.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Tawana is a quadriplegic and very recently she was struggling against pneumonia. She did so for more than six weeks. Every couple of days, I texted her my encouragements, one time, sending the link to a song about gratitude. Well, she played it over and over. The lyrics were taken from 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 about thanking God in all circumstances. That song played often, helped her remain grateful. It kept her focused. So friend, if you are feeling spiritually fainthearted, move beyond the hardship and give thanks. Mind you, your emotions might not be in it, but you can still offer up willful thanks. That is a sacrifice of thanksgiving by borrowing the words of a song. That’s exactly what Tawana did and God blessed her for it. He blessed her with feelings, with emotions of gratitude. And today, He can do the same for you.
