Moving Forward

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when tragedy blindsides you, you’re understandably bewildered, right? There’s confusion, anger… tears. But after a while, if you don’t stop feeling and start thinking about how to attend to the circumstances, your soul will simply dry up. When the reality of my paralysis sank in, I felt all those emotions: bewilderment, panicfear. And, boy, did I cry. Intense suffering does call for deep emotions. But the Bible tells you to take the next step and move forward; “strive” it says; press on, search to understand God’s perspective in your trial. What you think about God influences your friendship with Him and it affects how much glory you can give Him. Maybe it’s time to push aside the Kleenex, how about it? Dry your eyes and press hard into God’s Word to understand His heart in the matter. It’s the best way to stop feeling and start really thinking about that trial you’re in.
