Life Is Hard

The other day I was reading my Bible and I just had to laugh. I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I was in First Thessalonians chapter 3 where the apostle Paul says, “[do not] be unsettled by these trials. You know quite well that we were destined for them.” I guess I laughed because it may have been obvious to the early church that we are destined for trials, but not to us Christians. Yet it’s true. We are destined to have trials because this world is broken; life will be difficult. It’s why Paul adds: Be strengthened. Be encouraged in your faith. And don’t let trials unsettle you. If Jesus learned obedience through the things He suffered (as it says of Him in the book of Hebrews), then we certainly aren’t above our Master. So, friend, be strengthened in your faith. Don’t be unsettled that trials come. After all, the world is broken, and trials are just part of the package.

Have You Been Encouraged?
