Learning Through Afflictions

When it comes to handling a life of paralysis, one of the most helpful scriptures is from Psalm chapter 119.

Hi, I’m Joni. When it comes to handling a life of paralysis, one of the most helpful scriptures is from Psalm chapter 119. The psalmist writes, "It is good for me that I have been afflicted for it has caused me to learn of Thy statutes, O Lord." That verse really helps me. It reminds me that it is a good thing that I have been afflicted: Because my hardships have taught me to obey and trust God. There was a time I didn’t like this verse, but somewhere along the line I decided there must be something I should be learning from all this pain and paralysis. And I was right: your afflictions and mine drive us to God with the overwhelming conviction that we have nowhere else to turn. Yes, life is hard, but many will be the lessons God will engrave on your heart as He drives you to Himself. So say with me, “It is good that I have been afflicted because it causes me to learn about you, oh Lord.”
