Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Back in the late 70s the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association asked me to play my own part in the film Joni. I was only in my mid-20s and I didn’t know anything about acting. But I figured if the real person said the real thing to people struggling with real problems, it could have a real impact. And so, I did the movie. Believe me though, it was not glamorous. I really struggled to recreate depressing times in the hospital. But I was thrilled to learn that after the film was over, more than 250,000 decisions were made for Christ—all as a result of that movie. My whole point in doing the Joni movie was to convey a message of hope. I wanted people to live by the words of Isaiah, “Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.” And that’s what we do at Joni and Friends. Learn more at joniandfriends.org and even learn more about the Joni Movie.
