Homestretch Perspective

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. As I approach the homestretch of life, I want to finish strong. I want to be like Caleb. He was one of the spies who came back from the Promised Land with a good report. The Israelites didn’t believe that report, and so God sent everybody out to wander in the desert for 45 years. During all that time, Caleb stayed true to the Lord. When the time did come for him to enter the Promised Land, Caleb declared, “I am eighty-five years old, and I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey. I can still travel and fight.” Now, I am far from old, but I feel as strong now as I was when God started me on this journey of quadriplegia. And friend, as you grow older, I hope you will feel the same. Don’t let the aches and pains of older age dampen your enthusiasm for service.  Follow Caleb’s lead. After all, it’s a great homestretch perspective.
