Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and recently, while reading Second Chronicles, I stumbled upon a puzzling verseIn chapter 32 it says: “After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah.” Now, Hezekiah was a good and generous kingHe diligently worked to purify the temple and “did what was right before the Lord.” So you would expect this verse to read, “After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, he lived happily ever after.” But the reality is, he faced awful hardships; his cities were about to be invadedYet rather than become disheartened, Hezekiah said to his people, “Be strong and courageous… the Lord is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” And God did just that. As a Christian, you will face troubles, but do not lose faithTake heart from the example of Hezekiah and remember, that although awful hardships will come, the Lord is your help and He’ll fight your battles.
