Get Up Again

I once heard Scott Hamilton, Olympic Gold Medalist in figure skating, talk about how he got to the top.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.  I once heard Scott Hamilton, Olympic Gold Medalist in figure skating, talk about how he got to the top.  In the interview, he said, “I once calculated how many times I fell during my skating career — 41,600 times,” he said. “But here’s the funny thing: I got up 41,600 times. That’s the muscle you have to build in your psyche — the one that reminds you to just get up.”  Scott Hamilton gets it. And so do Christians who learn how to persevere.  The Bible calls our Lord the God of endurance, and every time you choose to get up after you fall from a tough trial, you are holding fast to the God who helps you endure time and time and time again.  So, remember Scott Hamilton’s advice the next time you feel overwhelmed.  Better yet, remember II Corinthians chapter 4, “you may get knocked down, you are never knocked out.”  Thanks to Jesus!
