This is Joni, and I loved tent camping at the beach near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, when I was growing up. Each morning as the sun got high and hot, we’d head for the beach. I can still hear the roar of the breakers, crashing and pounding. The sound of those powerful waves thrilled yet frightened me. But when I swam far out beyond the breakers, I was amazed at how subdued the crashing waves sounded behind me. When I dove beneath the surface, I could hardly hear the roar of breakers at all. These sounds came to mind when I was reading Psalm 42. It says deep calls to deep. When we dive deeper into God's heart, all the turmoil of thrashing waves seems distant. You discover an endless calm, a world of divine life that is deep and quiet. Try it, friend. Dive deeper into God's Word.
