Puzzles(Today we learn more about autism from Kids’ Corner guest blogger Samuel. Samuel is 17 years old and has autism. He recently learned to communicate through a letter board. Learn more about Samuel by reading his other posts.)

Does your foot ever fall asleep? Getting it to wake up can be like tingly pricks that both hurt and tickle! Well, this type of thing happens a lot to me and to some others who have autism. For example, my brain sends messages to my hand, but the messages seem to get lost along the way. Many times I want to do things my brain understands, yet my hands don’t seem to keep up. After a lot of practice, sometimes I can get the two to communicate! When I was little, my mom worked very hard to help me learn to write and do other things most kids can do. Squeezing my arms and hands helped me to know where they were. You see, they felt ‘asleep’ sort of like when your foot is asleep. So, the next time your foot falls asleep, will you remember to pray for those of us who have hands, feet, and legs that are ‘sleepy’ and tingly!?
