International Outreach

Around the world over 650 million people are affected by disability and many of their families live in poverty, pain, and despair. Joni and Friends is committed to opening new doors of evangelism internationally.

Through in-country training and culturally-sensitive materials, Joni and Friends is equipping people affected by disability in countries around the world to utilize their gifts and talents in their communities.

International Opportunities

In the year 2000, Joni and Friends expanded its involvement in international ministry by affiliating like-minded, Christ-centered ministries abroad. These partners are committed to heighten disability awareness within the church and community, and to equip and train leaders in carrying out ministry to people affected by disability. Because of the enormous opportunities for disability ministry and curriculum to be strategically place in international Christian ministries, international Outreach serves within institutes of higher learning and churches.

International Family Retreats

International Family Retreats

Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors. We are to do so in word and action. Reaching out to families impacted by disability can bring healing and refreshment to them and introduce them to the love of Jesus Christ. Joni and Friends International Family Retreats provide a “lifeline” to families who’ve been impacted, and often strained, be the effects disability can bring. Just as we do on a national level, International Family Retreats are based on biblical encouragement, social support, and creative leisure time designed for the entire family.

Wheels for the World

A life of mobility is a life full of possibility! Wheelchairs and other mobility aids offer physical assistance; and more importantly Joni and Friends provides the gospel of Jesus Christ – sharing Him by relationship created through the provision of wheelchairs, crutches and walkers. First wheelchairs are collected all across the United States and once restored in one our restoration centers located in prison facilities, are transported overseas to developing countries. And that’s where the possibility for changed life begins for a disabled man, women or child affected by disability. Each wheelchair is hand selected and fitted by specialist to ensure the proper fit and the life changing gift of mobility.

Team MED

Team MED

Individuals called by God to serve his people are available when and where He leads. The New Testament abounds with examples of those, like Paul and Barnabas, who traveled in pairs as they proclaimed Christ to the world. Evangelism, enhanced by professional expertise, is a “word and deed” approach to sharing Jesus with the disability community.

Total Access

Total Access

In many countries we serve, there is little or no accessibility for the disabled community; schools, hospitals, parks…and no possibility for the disabled person to enter these. A TOTAL ACCESS team would enter a country to teach local church members to build ramps, widen doorways or create other forms of accessibility. The local church can then become a change agent in their community by building new relationships or deepening existing ones.

Christian Literacy Trips

Christian Literacy Trips

Illiteracy is a crippling disability in itself. Half of the adult world can not read in any language; and we have the responsibility to enable them to read the Word of God. The Christian Literacy Associates’ model is simple, and practical learning-to-read…and it utilizes the gospel message in the process. The Evangelize through Literacy” program is implemented in countries where English is a major language. A capable national will be trained to equip others who will teach reading in the community. This program is put into operation through the local church or ministry to further the outreach of the local church.
