International Family Retreats

The challenges that confront families affected by disability are magnified in developing countries. Because of their disability, these families are often marginalized within their own cultures. Resources, education, and health services are extremely limited. Impoverished living conditions can bring even greater difficulty.

Joni and Friends offers hope and help through International Family Retreats. In partnership with Christ-honoring churches in the local area, the Gospel message is shared – and demonstrated! At Retreat, families experience Christ-centered encouragement, acceptance, and friendship. Often for first time ever, parents and children who live with disability discover that God cherishes them!

You can be a part of this one-of-a-kind global ministry. As a Short Term Missionary (STM), you’ll demonstrate Christ’s love as you serve a special needs family at an International Family Retreat. To find out more, explore “Volunteer to Serve” (below).

Total Access

Total Access empowers the national church to be a change agent in society through training members to make schools, homes, hospitals, etc. accessible.

Our Joni and Friends outreach teams are continually confronted with the absence of accessibility in developing nations. Each international outreach reminds us how difficult it is for those with disabilities to get around.

With evangelism as the focus, each team will have Bibles and evangelical materials to hand out. Our in‐country partner churches will handle the evangelism and follow up.

Team MED

Our Team MED ministry addresses the healthcare needs of the international disability community. The goal is three-fold: to equip, empower, and evangelize. Small teams of U.S. medical professionals – doctors, dentists, optometrists, and rehabilitation specialists – volunteer their time to travel abroad and work alongside our international partners, equipping them to better serve people with disabilities in their local communities, while sharing the love of Christ.
