Joni and Friends MISSION STATEMENT

We exist to communicate the gospel and equip Christ-honoring churches worldwide to evangelize and disciple people affected by disability.

The family is the cornerstone of our country…and, more importantly, of the church. In today's culture it is not surprising that families experience high levels of stress and pressure. It surfaces in the high rates of divorce, and other strains that threaten the family.

When a family is affected by disability, the demands and pressures of daily living are even greater. Often overwhelmed by the tasks, time, and financial commitments of life with a disability, it is a challenge for many to find opportunities for rest, Christ-centered encouragement, and the tools to build a stronger family.

The need is staggering - one in every five Americans has a disability…and only 10% of churches in the U.S. are actively reaching out to them.

Joni and Friends Family Retreats are an easy and fun opportunity for you to reach out to people affected by disability with the gospel…to help them find hope in Jesus.

Family Retreats provide dynamic five-day summer programs where families affected by disability can experience relief from the everyday challenges.

Over the years, many people have come to Christ through Family Retreats…many have grown in their relationship with Christ…many wounded marriages have been healed and new commitments made on a journey back to healthy family relationships.

How an STM helps the Families

Short term missionaries from churches like yours help families affected by disability to experience a break from the routine of life. Churches who have sent short term missionaries from their congregation find that they return energized, equipped, and eager to engage in ongoing ministry within the church body. Some have even been inspired to begin a disability ministry in their home church!

Through people generously giving of their time and finances for the program and scholarships, families are given new hope, perspective, and Christ-centered encouragement to face the challenges of tomorrow. Many families speak of returning to the routine of life with a new sense of energy, encouragement and sense of God’s presence – ready to face their daily challenges and looking forward until next year’s Family Retreat.
