Welcome to the Field Ministries of Joni and Friends. We provide several primary opportunities for disability ministry to be carried out through the Body of Christ internationally, nationally, regionally and in local communities.

Area Ministries

The strategy of fulfilling the mission of Joni and Friends is primarily based upon Area Ministries mobilizing and equipping local congregations "to do the work of the ministry" (Eph. 4:12) to the disabled of their city and region according to Christ's mandate in Luke 14:12-24. Area Ministries are:

• staffed by two or more people
• made possible by local donors, churches, and volunteers
• directed by a local board and a paid Area Director, under the auspices of the national office and Director of Field Operations

• assisting churches with training and a variety of programs, curriculum, and special projects to minister to individuals and families affected by disability
• evangelizing and discipling people affected by disability
• mobilizing volunteers and churches to participate in exciting and rewarding ministries such as Family Retreats, Wheels for the World, and Special Delivery (ministry to the institutionalized and homebound)
• providing resource referrals and assistance to individuals and families affected by disability

Satellite Offices

Essentially mini-Area Ministries, Satellite Offices are viewed as outreach offices of Area Ministries in a city within the region of an existing Area Ministry. Satellites have part-time or one paid full-time staff person to support a cadre of volunteers. Satellite offices carry out more programs than a Chapter but fewer than an Area Ministry.

Chapters

This program was begun in September 2002 in order to empower groups of friends in cities and towns who want to implement selected Joni and Friends programs and ministries through a very modest budget with volunteers and no paid staff, i.e., who are not called to start a full-fledged Satellite or Area Ministry. There are two types of chapters: church chapters and interdenominational chapters.

Ministry Affiliates

We can't fulfill Luke 14:12-24 by ourselves, but in partnership with the Body of Christ we can! Also referred to as strategic partnerships, the Ministry Affiliate program empowers ministries to carry the banner of disability ministry through disability ministry training, developing disability sensitive curriculum and programs, joint media and education efforts, joint outreach efforts, and championing the disability community as a distinct people group to be reached for Christ.
