19-year-old Joni drawing with her mouthWhen my husband 'took over' my blog yesterday and wrote you about July 30 being the 45th anniversary of my diving accident, NEVER did I dream I would hear from so many friends – and from all over the world, no less! And I have been so BLESSED reading your comments. See this 19-year-old girl in this photo? Fresh out of rehab? She's come a long way since the late 60s, and God has been faithful through every month and mile. THANK YOU for celebrating the goodness and gracious provision of our wonderful Savior toward me these many years. And the best is yet to come. He's promised (just read Revelation 21 and 22)!

Hi Joni I have been following your life, books and devotionals for more than 25 years (I think I am 70 now). You have encouraged me and inspired me in so many ways in my faith. Your daily devotionals speak to me in the troubled times and in my joyous times what I like best is you always bring me back to God's Word. Thanks for being there for me each morning. May God continue to bless you with good health. In Christ Robyn

Joni, Your story was one of the first that really resonated with me as a teenager, and I have followed your journey and appreciated your perspective for over twenty years... Your faith and strength and writings continue to inspire and motivate me, and while I know that all the glory goes to God, I just want to say that I so appreciate your willingness to make the choice, day after day after day, to submit to His will and serve His purpose. You are a great encouragement to me, and may the Lord continue to bless you richly!

Joni, I am looking at your photo from 1967 and seeing how beautiful you were. Then I look at your photos from today and wonder whether the beautiful woman we see has had "work" done or whether it is her soul walking so closely with the Lord that makes her appear to be equally beautiful! I hate it that you have suffered so in your life - but I love it that you have allowed the Lord to use it to reach so many, including me! Joni, you already know that this life on earth is temporary. But I know that the use you have made of this time will reap you eternal rewards and many of us who meet you in heaven will thank you for pointing the way to Jesus Christ as Savior! May the Lord bless you and Ken and give you the desire of your heart! Psalm 20

Dear Joni, Thank you so much for your example of living for Jesus and being content in all circumstances. I have admired and enjoyed reading your books since I was teenager in the late 70's when I lost my younger brother and thought my world had crashed. You have been a great example and encouragement to me. Thanks for reminding me once again that the best is yet to come! Praise Jesus!

Dear Joni - I read your hubby's comments last night, but couldn't get back to the computer until now to send in a note. Thru God you have been a positive light for so many!!!! As an Occupational Therapist I have to say that your attitude and courage isn't the norm, one that I am sure took time to develop with God's help. Thank you so much for your witness both for Christ and those with disabilities. God bless as you and your husband as you continue with your ministry!!!

We adore you, you are an inspiration to everyone. We named our daughter Joni after you. I told her who she was named after and she follows your post also. She is a Sunday School teacher now at age 27. Wishing you many more good years in God's service.

Hi Joni! I wrote to you in 1974 I was 14. I had just found out I had Scoliosis. I was told I had to wear a back brace for 5 years. My world as I knew it end I thought. I read your book, you gave me so much inspiration to not let a brace keep me down. I found it was not the end of the world. And it wasn't. In 1985 I did end up having back surgey again 9 months in a back brace , I was married with an 18 month baby girl. Again with a lot of faith knowing it will be ok and it was. Today I still have the rod in my back, I have 3 wonderful kids. 2 girls and a boy. My boy is Autistic/ Aspergers. I always remember reading your book at age 14. I have always said God will never give me more than I can handle. I still have the letter you sent to me when I wrote to you! Thanks you for being a wonderful inspiration to me and my life! I wish I still had your book, but I loaned it to someone!

How did you go from that picture to your ministry? Maybe you wrote a book on that, which either I haven't read yet or I have forgotten. i may just have to read the books of yours I have, again, to find out this info. Is there one in particular that gives the story?
