Yosemite Falls from Housekeeping Camp

My friend and coworker, Mike Yuen and his wife Beth, recently took a camping trip to Yosemite (to celebrate his 65th birthday :-). He snapped this photo right outside their camping spot – the dark triangular stain on the rock in the center of the photo is the bone-dry Yosemite Falls (California is in an awful drought). Nevertheless, Yosemite is as beautiful as ever. And although the Bible describes how Earth’s “elements will melt in the heat,… we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness” (2 Peter 3:12-13). After the renovation of Earth, will this pristine valley with its glacier-scarred cliffs survive? Who can say?! But if the new earth does include Yosemite, I invite you to join me on a hike from the valley floor to Glacier Point where we’ll hold a praise-to-God-party! As the old hymn goes, “Oh, what a Day that will be!”
