Wednesday, June 30th Update:

More than 36 hours have passed since Joni’s surgery and she continues to make great improvement. Today Joni is preparing to leave the hospital and plans to be at home in her own bed by this evening. “I’ve been so blessed reading the many cards and emails and the blog posts on Joni’s Corner. Ken and I are absorbing as much information as we can from the nurses and physical therapists here at the hospital before we leave. I’m just very much looking forward to sitting up in my wheelchair and looking at life from a 90 degree angle rather than in bed!,” said Joni. “I want to thank the many people who have been praying for me – judging from the progress on my healing after surgery plus my high spirits, God is doing great things through your prayers!” Next steps for Joni and Ken involve meeting with a medical oncologist to determine the kind and course of chemotherapy she will undergo. Joni added, “Please pray for the many decisions we will be making over the next few days as we begin battling this cancer.”
