Voiceless 4 Voiceless

Recently the young people from Mandarin Baptist Church of LA covenanted to go without speaking for 30 hours, all in an effort to understand how most of the world’s 1 billion people with disabilities lack a voice in their cultures and countries. Each young person asked friends and relatives to “sponsor” them in an effort to raise funds for Wheels for the World. And just look how much they raised!! What does one do with so many ‘quiet’ hours? There were ‘wordless’ Bible studies, videos, and, yes, games to play. When V4V was completed, Aileen wrote me, “I never would’ve realized how “voiceless” people with disabilities feel. I always have a lot of things to say, and as I was trying to express myself, I felt no one was really understanding. Or they just gave up trying to figure it out. It taught me to be more patient with people with disabilities because no one likes to be ignored. This V4V was only for 30 hours, not even 1/millionth the time of what they experience. It was definitely not a thing where you forget and move on. I’m excited to start being a better servant of Christ. Thanks for letting us be a part of what God is doing through you and Joni and Friends.” Thanks to everyone who participated in V4V; together we are “speaking up” on behalf of the world’s disabled, giving them hope and help in Jesus Christ!
