Tuesday, August 17th Update from Joni:

A friend asked, "Joni, what has Jesus been saying to you through all this?" I thought for a moment, realizing there have been plenty of dry moments depleted of all energy; times when I've felt, Lord, this cross, this quadriplegia and pain and cancer and chemo... where are you leading me? Yet I know the answer for who have I in heaven but Him and there is nothing on earth that I desire above Him; where else would I turn? Jesus is the one with the words of life, and without Him, I am nothing. He's my Bread of Heaven and Living Water. And so what has Jesus been telling me? "Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. [Joni], you need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised" (Hebrews 10:35-37). And, oh, what He has promised! Join me today in memorizing Hebrews 10:35-37 and keep it handy on those days you, too, feel dry and depleted. It's the best remedy ever!

Joni, I wanted to send an email to encourage you, but, as often is the case, reading Joni's Corner has encouraged ME. Please know that I am praying for God's strength and grace to see you through these days of treatment. I am asking Him to bring you to my mind during those rough times so that I may have the privilege of interceding for you. The Lord has been bringing me through a difficult time myself and has been using a favorite Bible passage in a special way. Isaiah 43:18-19, 21: "Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert...This people I have formed for myself; they shall declare My praise." Lord, give us grace to praise You, even when we don't feel like it. Blessings, Laura

Joni: You remain in my prayers. Just wanted to thank you for the blessing of your example. You have no idea what you and your ministry have meant to me this past year and a half. I listen to your radio program online every day and often am comforted by your words through your radio archives and your blog. Thank you so much for being such an incredible blessing even as you face this new challenge. May the God of all peace continues to be with you and strengthen you. You and Ken remain in my prayers. Many, many thanks! Becky T.

Still lifting you in prayer. Thought of you as I was driving home last week and singing along in the car with a gospel tape. What a blessing. I fully understand your loving the hymns and words. My radio doesn't work good w/o its antena so I just play the one cassett tape over and over again. Big time blessing. Best way to start a day for me is when God has me wake up with a song about Him on my mind, on my lips and then in my heart. Love you, Karen
