Brian and Nick

Sometimes the most candid photos at a Family Retreat are the most powerful. Take this one of camper Brian (on the left) and his young STM, Nick. He may still be a young teenager, but you can tell Nick has a heart of maturity and compassion for Brian, as well as his 'job' of volunteering at Spruce Lake Family Retreat II (yesterday was the last day of camp for the families). Retreat not only changes the lives of kids with disabilities and their moms and dads, it shapes the character of those who serve. We are proud of Nick and the doors God will be opening up to him in the future as he continues to serve those with special needs! Be praying for this week's upcoming retreats!

Dear Joni, Nick reflects the mercy of Jesus. He is an example how we all should be in our at- titude. Our Father in heaven is a merciful God and He wants us to be merciful also.

Nick wiped Brian's nose and mouth many times every day and didin't appear to think twice about it. Not typical for a teenage boy. He was certainly the hands and feet of Jesus this past week.

I had the privilege of observing Nick and Brian all week. They are a great pair. Nick is wonderful with him. I was so impressed with all the young STMs this past week. They went above and beyond!

They say a picture tells a thousand words, this one sure does. You can tell so much about Nick by this caring gesture of wiping Brian's cheek. I love seeing teenagers serve at Family Retreats! And this is the very reason why.

I was at this retreat and know this young man personally. My daughter Kaitlin who has multiple disabilities plays in the marching band with Nick at their high school. He truly is an amazing young man where ever and what ever he is doing. I am glad to know him.
