Register today to attend the first Joni and Friends Southeast Disability Ministry Summit October 5-6 near Charlotte, NC. Designed around the theme “We are God’s Workmanship,” the summit will provide practical training to educate and equip churches and individuals for disability ministry. “Statistically, disabilities are on the rise, especially with 1 in 88 children now affected by autism,” says Joni Eareckson Tada. “There’s hardly a cul-de-sac in America that doesn’t include a special needs family, and this means churches must get prepared to minister to this growing population. The Southeast Disability Summit is a great way for churches to get equipped.”

The summit will include 30 workshops presented by leaders in disability ministry! Workshops are organized under the tracks: Church Ministry, Bioethics, and Family/Caregiver with keynote speakers Joni Eareckson Tada and Emily Colson, an artist and writer who uses her creative abilities to help her son, Max, who was diagnosed with autism. Other speakers include Stephanie Hubach, author and Special Needs Director of Mission to North America (MNA), Kathy McReynolds, Director of Academic Studies for the Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability, and Jennifer Barrick, survivor of a major car wreck, author and a living testimony at Hope Out Loud ministries.

I am praying for this conference and am so very excited about what you are doing to equip and "get the word out" about folks with disabilities. I do wish I could attend but have a prior commitment. Especially praying for the team traveling from CA and for the staff and volunteers in Charlotte. (the team from CA includes Joni's wheelchair).

I was excited to seee the conference that you are doing in North Carolina; however, we are in great need for the same in Alabama. Would you please consider if you are able to do something in Alabama. I would imagine if you ever did it would be in Birmingham, but I pray it will be in Huntsville as I'm not able to travel. God has been speaking to me so clearly on this. It is a great passion of mine because I am "disabled".
