It makes me smile to see young people serving at our Family Retreats — people like Bobbie featured in this video. Though there are many ways that she could spend her summers, for three years now, Bobbie has served as a volunteer at our camps for families affected by disability. That’s because for Bobbie, Family Retreats are like “a little slice of heaven.” Why? Because the Bible says heaven will be a place of joy (Psalm 16:11). And Family Retreats bring so much joy, fun, and fellowship to families worn by the day-to-day demands of a disability. That’s why this year, our theme for Family Retreats is Nehemiah 8:10: “ … for the JOY of the Lord is your strength.” So let me encourage you to watch this video, and then join Bobbie and serve as a volunteer — and in doing so you, too, will have a glimpse of heaven’s joy!
