From Short Term Missionary to Ministry

A frequent encouragement given to Short Term Missionaries is to turn the “mountain top” experience of serving in the mission field to a home church ministry. Too often good intentions rarely translate into lasting commitment. Not so with Brian Bickett of Joni And Friends Albuquerque. Brian served as lead wheelchair mechanic on numerous Wheels For the World outreaches to Peru starting in 2005. His contagious enthusiasm for disability ministry has made Brian a key and “go-to” volunteer.

Brian heads up the Chair Corps volunteers and recently designed and built a prototype “Donation Station” for wheelchair collections at churches and local businesses. He is always on the lookout for wheelchairs and eagerly shares his story on how each wheelchair changes dozens of lives. Brian is a constant testimony of a changed life when one commits to living out the Luke 14 mandate. Brian touches hundreds of lives of families affected by disability in his church, in his community and across the globe. Thank you Brian for being a model servant with a heart like Jesus!
