Martin Pistorius with his wifeRecently the story of Martin Pistorius made the news, and there's a good reason why. At a young age, Martin became completely paralyzed and unable to communicate due to a strange neuromuscular disorder. For years, he could not move a finger or speak a word – yet he could hear everyone's conversations around him (even his mother who often lamented "I wish he would die"). Thankfully, this young man eventually 'awoke' from his paralysis and inability to communicate. Read this amazing article – and then, Google 'Locked in Syndrome' to learn more about Martin's disability.
