Our New Friend Winston

Winston

Whenever I travel, I ask my friends to pray for folks that we often meet along the way. In October, I took a trip to Tennessee for some speaking engagements.  Well, you can’t go to the south without eating at a Cracker Barrel, and while there, Winston an 87-year-old widower who survived the Korean War, sat down at the table next to us. When we noticed his veteran’s cap, Ken went over, thanked him for his service, struck up a conversation, and eventually gave him a gospel tract about my story. We learned Winston is a follower of Christ, but when he spoke of his deceased wife, his eyes filled with tears.

So, that morning we lingered a little at Cracker Barrel, sharing fellowship with Winston – and all of us went away, smiling and with hearts strengthened! Well, just a couple of weeks ago, Winston sent us his military photo, along with a DVD and a classic bag from Cracker Barrel – I love that! That thoughtful gift brought back that precious memory of our meeting. You know friend, no matter where we go, when we meet a brother or sister in Christ, we instantly share a bond of love through our Savior. It connects us in a deep way. That’s what happened with Winston and us. So today keep a look out, you may just meet another family member.
