Joni at the microphone“While I can only imagine the disappointment of music writer Bruce Broughton and lyricist Dennis Spiegel in the rescinding of their Oscar nomination, it in no way detracts from either the song’s beauty or its message. I was humbled and honored to have been asked to sing it for the film, and was as surprised as anyone when I learned of the song’s nomination. I was grateful for the attention the nomination brought to this worthy song and the inspirational film behind it, as well as to the ongoing work of Joni and Friends to people affected by disabilities. The decision by the Academy to rescind the nomination may well bring even further attention, and I only hope it helps to further extend the message and impact of the song. Regarding the reasons for the nomination being rescinded, it is not my place to speculate as I have no insights into the workings of the entertainment industry. I was honored to be invited to sing the song and it will always be a treasured experience.”

Sung like an Angel Joni. It doesn't matter about The Oscar's, you sang it for The Lord which is far more rewarding. God Bless You and Ken.

Joni, you are an indescribable encouragement to me. Thank you for allowing our Creator to mold you and make you into the vessel He is so intricately designing. He alone holds the eternal blueprint of each of our lives. Even though we’ve never met, we are sisters through our precious Lord Jesus Christ! May His holy name be praised because He lives and because He is…and because He lives in you and your dear and faithful husband.

I couldn't begin to tell you what songs won Oscars in years gone by - even recent years. But I will not forget Alone, Yet Not Alone. Thank you for being such a beautiful example of God's love, Joni. And for singing this message of God's presence and faithfulness with such grace. May God use every word that's been said about and in this song to draw people to Himself - and to God be the glory!

God truly works in mysterious ways. I don't think I would have heard this song except for the media attention given it due to the Oscar nomination controversy. I have been blessed by it, what an inspirational song. Joni, what a gift God has given you, your voice is beautiful. What a powerful message to this song.

Joni, You singing "Alone, Yet not Alone," gave it such an anointing. I was soo touched. What a beautiful song, that you clearly sang from your soul. I know God is using you mightily through it. Its amazing how God can lift us from the mundane to see his beauty, majesty and glory. THis song does that. Tia Parks
